About this photo collection
So, my Dad is pretty great. He got me on a dirtbike at the age of four, before I learned to ride a bicycle. Same for my brother... Thanks Dad! Well one of his riding buddies Glen Bridges was known for bringing the kitchen sink with him on rides. He had a windowless white van to transport his bike, and inside that van was god knows what… and a lot of it! Somewhere along the line, Glen passed on this photo collection to Dad, and then they ended up in my hands. They were so cool I loved them, and I’ve been lugging them around the world with me ever since. Not only are many of them technically great photographs, with clear focus, strong composition and what not. They also demonstrate the passion these photographers had for their subject. I’ve been meaning to share this collection with the world, and so now, I present them here to you.
Presented on the following page are reproductions of these photos. They are photos of photos... literally. I didn't mess with em. Except for correcting for lens distortion, these are "out of camera" reproductions. Most of the photos in this collection had details on the back, including many notes that were typed... on a typewriter and carefully taped. Others had lengthy handwritten descriptions of the scene or event. I have reproduced the backside of each print here also, and next to each image you will see its corresponding back. Some backs had nothing at all... which I dutifully reproduced anyway. Even if the orientation is off, on the next page, each image is directly next to it's backside.
Please take the time to send me a message using the contact link below if you have any information regarding the riders, photographers, or subjects! Feel free to share this link, and these photos themselves however you wish... after all, they aren't my photos!
The goal of this project is to get these images back into the hands of the folks who were there. Or their kids... or their grand kids! I want these photos to be seen by their intended audience.
I can also provide these photos in Hi-Resolution if you are interested. The reproductions here will share well... and print... well OK. If you would like to actually print these, I recommend contacting me for the Hi-Res. I'll get a flash drive to you for a nominal fee.
Finally, I would love to produce a softcover book with these images. If you have any interest at all in being able to flip through these in a print format, contact me!
